About Us

Relationships Scotland - Couple Counselling Ayrshire is an independent agency which was founded in 1948 under the then Scottish Marriage Guidance Council. It is one of a number of local services which are affiliated to Relationships Scotland. We are Scotland’s equivalent of Relate, our sister service in England and Wales.

We are a voluntary organisation which is registered as a charity with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (charity number SC026111)

Counsellors

Our counsellors are men and women from all walks of life  who are carefully selected and trained to nationally accredited standards by Relationships Scotland. They receive continuing support, supervision and training and have access to a range of additional professional consultants. In this manner we are able to deliver a consistently high quality of service through our counsellors.

You may be asked to be seen by a counsellor-in-training. A counsellor-in-training will already hold a certificate in generic counselling from COSCA or BACP and are continuing to develop their counselling skills to obtain a diploma in relationship counselling. If you have any objection please make this known to the receptionist at the time of booking your intake session.

Confidentiality

All our  Counsellors and staff are bound by a duty of confidentiality. We will  not give your name or any information about you to anyone outside Relationships Scotland - Couple Counselling Ayrshire without your permission or unless someone’s personal safety is at risk. You will be sent a copy of our Confidentiality Statement together with other relevant information when you first apply for an intake session.
